April 20, 1 Peter 1:3

“What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.”

1 Peter 1:3 MSG – A verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.

It may all seem very permanent, this earthly existence of ours, but there’s more to it, people!  Here’s Peter reminding the early believers that although they now have “everything to live for”, there’s actually more in the afterlife.  And don’t let the anticipation of the future prevent you from living a “brand-new life” right now, he says.  This thing called the Resurrection of one Jesus, is not something to sneeze at, you see, it is actually an amazing and mind-blowing historical event that will transform you from inside out, but only if you accept it.  Will you?
