Kant: A man after my own heart! And not just because of his love for coffee. But even more so because of it!

April 30, Ephesians 4:15

“No prolonged infancies among us, please. We’ll not tolerate babes in the woods, small children who are an easy mark for impostors. God wants us to grow up, to know the whole truth and tell it in love—like Christ in everything. We take our lead from Christ, who is the source of everything we do. He keeps us in step with each other. His very breath and blood flow through us, nourishing us so that we will grow up healthy in God, robust in love.”
Ephesians 4:15 MSG – A verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.

So, this is serious business, folks!  Paul is reminding us that “God wants us to grow up.”  Don’t be like “babes in the woods”!  That is too funny, don’t you think?  But that is probably true for many of us.  We claim to have entered into the realization of the truth of our redemption and salvation in the great work done by Jesus on the cross, and our subsequent faith and belief in that great sacrifice that affords us life eternal, and yet, despite such a great, wondrous, and transforming truth that ought to cause us to reflect on how amazing this divine love is and aim to channel it into our daily living, we forget its significance and continue on in our childlike ways — portraying and projecting our base and petty qualities.  Well, someone’s gotta call it like it is, and here we have Paul doing just that.

Here’s hoping you’ll pause long enough to ask yourself how “grown up” you are in your Christian walk.  I hope that you are growing every day, and becoming “healthy in God, robust in love.”
