April 28, Proverbs 29:25

“The fear of human opinion disables; trusting in God protects you from that.”

Proverbs 29:25 MSG – A verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.

Do you feel “disabled” by what you think others’ think of you or your views?  Well, if you abide in God’s word, and if His word abides within you, you will have no fear to speak your mind — nay, to speak the truth — without fear.  Jesus did not mince words, and many a time used the choicest of words to address some in his day.  “Brood of vipers” is what he called one set of people; “white-washed sepulchres” is what he called another.  There is a time for silence, and then there is a time for speaking out.  Do not worry about what others might think of you.  Rest assured in the peace, calm, and confidence that comes in knowing that you are a child of the Almighty, and that it is God’s opinion of you that really matters.
