“God wasn’t attracted to you and didn’t choose you because you were big and important—the fact is, there was almost nothing to you. He did it out of sheer love, keeping the promise he made to your ancestors. God stepped in and mightily bought you back out of that world of slavery, freed you from the iron grip of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know this: God , your God, is God indeed, a God you can depend upon. He keeps his covenant of loyal love with those who love him and observe his commandments for a thousand generations. But he also pays back those who hate him, pays them the wages of death; he isn’t slow to pay them off—those who hate him, he pays right on time.”
So, here’s the thing of it, people: God is no fool. In case you think you’re so cool and have life and the universe figured out, and that you have no need of him, well, I would recommend you think again. Because God has never been impressed with your self-righteousness, you see, so you might as well let that go and come to terms with the fact that God has always turned his face and favor toward the unworthy and undeserving and the least expected ones among us. That is just how God is. It is in giving voice to the dumb-founded, in giving strength to the weak, and in giving sight to the blind that God reveals his grace, power, and love; and causes the chosen ones to do the same to all those around them. So, today, gentle reader, may it be that you sense your need for the Almighty and respond to his saving grace.
