March 4, Psalm 56:4

“Take my side, God—I’m getting kicked around, stomped on every day. Not a day goes by but somebody beats me up; They make it their duty to beat me up. When I get really afraid I come to you in trust. I’m proud to praise God; fearless now, I trust in God. What can mere mortals do?”

Psalm 56:4 MSG – A verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.

You think you’re going through a rough patch?  You’re not alone, and you certainly won’t be the last.  There have been many before you, such as the likes of David, the shepherd boy-king-poet-man after God’s own heart, who broke down many a time complaining to God about life’s injustices.  But wrapped inside each complaint, is his own resolve to seek God’s protection, guidance, care, and comfort.  Do you also do that?
