March 3, John 6:37

“Jesus said, “I am the Bread of Life. The person who aligns with me hungers no more and thirsts no more, ever. I have told you this explicitly because even though you have seen me in action, you don’t really believe me. Every person the Father gives me eventually comes running to me. And once that person is with me, I hold on and don’t let go. I came down from heaven not to follow my own whim but to accomplish the will of the One who sent me.”

John 6:37 MSG – A verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.

Even Jesus was misunderstood.  Or not understood at all. Despite everything he had DONE.  Despite all those impossible miracles, including raising people from the dead, his own disciples did not believe! How could that be?  Well, that is just how things are sometimes.  Which is why one must state the obvious, and repeat oneself — in order that the true meaning and purpose of one’s words and actions becomes evident.  Here is Jesus telling you and me to stop and think and realize his divine and sovereign identity.  Here’s hoping we do just that.
