This is the belief of the Christ-follower: it is not just the spectacular fact of belief in Jesus’ work on the cross that has resulted in eternal life and freedom from sin; it is a real every-day confidence in the knowledge that a great and heavy burden has been lifted off you and that you are living each day free from “a fated lifetime of brutal tyranny at the hands of sin and death.” Sin has no stronghold over the believer, and death has no power over the believer either.
