December 15, James 3:9-10

“This is scary: You can tame a tiger, but you can’t tame a tongue—it’s never been done. The tongue runs wild, a wanton killer. With our tongues we bless God our Father; with the same tongues we curse the very men and women he made in his image. Curses and blessings out of the same mouth!”

James 3:9-10 MSG – A verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.

An amazing organ that multitasks like crazy, wouldn’t you say? But actually, the tongue is an organ that only does the bidding of the head and the heart.  So if you are serious about wanting to “tame the tongue,” you may wish to check what’s in the head and the heart, and make some changes there so as to allow the tongue to behave better. 🙂
