May 16, 2015, Colossians 3:17

“Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.”

Colossians 3:17 MSG – A verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.

So, this is something Paul has said before and is saying here again because it bears repeating.  May it be that we truly pause to consider the simplicity of the advice he gives and apply it to our lives.  Let’s be “in tune” with each other, “in step” with each other; let’s “cultivate thankfulness”; let God’s word dwell richly in our lives; let us help each other with our words by way of offering advice rooted in “good common sense”; and let us be joyful in every little detail of our daily lives, giving thanks to God the Father in everything we do and say.  Can you do that, believer?

Jordan, Wadi Rum and Aqaba, 13 – 16 May 2015

Fascinating tour of the Middle East continues, courtesy of my Aussie friend CD. The landscape strikingly resembles that of the new Mad Max movie!
