“Get along among yourselves, each of you doing your part. Our counsel is that you warn the freeloaders to get a move on. Gently encourage the stragglers, and reach out for the exhausted, pulling them to their feet. Be patient with each person, attentive to individual needs. And be careful that when you get on each other’s nerves you don’t snap at each other. Look for the best in each other, and always do your best to bring it out.”
1 Thessalonians 5:15 MSG – A verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.
Wow!  I ought to emblazon this onto a t-shirt and wear it every day so I don’t forget how to live! So I don’t forget how to “get along” in “doing my part”; so I might “gently encourage the stragglers”, and “reach for the exhausted”; so I might practice being “patient with each person”, and be “attentive to individual needs”; so I might be careful not to “snap at each other”; and so that I might “look for the best” in everyone, and always do my best to “bring it out.” Wow! That is a high bar, indeed. Here’s hoping I can accomplish at least some of it every day!
