March 26, Psalm 119:93

“What you say goes, God, and stays, as permanent as the heavens. Your truth never goes out of fashion; it’s as up-to-date as the earth when the sun comes up. Your Word and truth are dependable as ever; that’s what you ordered—you set the earth going. If your revelation hadn’t delighted me so, I would have given up when the hard times came. But I’ll never forget the advice you gave me; you saved my life with those wise words. Save me! I’m all yours. I look high and low for your words of wisdom. The wicked lie in ambush to destroy me, but I’m only concerned with your plans for me. I see the limits to everything human, but the horizons can’t contain your commands!”

Psalm 119:93 MSG A verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.

This is how a heart full of gratitude addresses the person of God.  May it be that you and I use this as a good template to find our own way to talk with God and acknowledge the amazing grace of his love for us.

March 25, Psalm 84:10

“One day spent in your house, this beautiful place of worship, beats thousands spent on Greek island beaches. I’d rather scrub floors in the house of my God than be honored as a guest in the palace of sin. All sunshine and sovereign is God , generous in gifts and glory. He doesn’t scrimp with his traveling companions. It’s smooth sailing all the way with God-of-the-Angel-Armies.”

Psalm 84:10 MSG – A verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.

It’s all relative, you see.  To the believer, spending time with God is far better than the best of vacations you could ever dream of.  That’s what David is saying here.  So beautiful and intimate is this relationship with God that nothing compares.  It is incomparable and altogether marvelous to the point of being indescribable.  May it be that you and I might also boast about a personal relationship with God, our father, just like the Psalmist does.

March 24, John 1:9

The Life-Light was the real thing: Every person entering Life he brings into Light. He was in the world, the world was there through him, and yet the world didn’t even notice. He came to his own people, but they didn’t want him. But whoever did want him, who believed he was who he claimed and would do what he said, He made to be their true selves, their child-of-God selves. These are the God-begotten, not blood-begotten, not flesh-begotten, not sex-begotten.

John 1:9 MSG – A verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.

Be it by divine will, design, happenstance, or whatever the reason, it is truly unfortunate that Christ came to redeem a certain people, but he was rejected by them.  Unfortunate for them, but life-giving to the rest.  Because so marvelous a plan to offer this gift of salvation to every single person on the face of this earth is nothing short of incredible.  This is no game, this is no joke.  This is the truth, but if you are a skeptic, why don’t you wager in its favor — because you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!
