December 9, II Corinthians 7:1

“With promises like this to pull us on, dear friends, let’s make a clean break with everything that defiles or distracts us, both within and without. Let’s make our entire lives fit and holy temples for the worship of God.”

2 Corinthians 7:1 MSGA verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.

Making a clean break is easier said than done, is it not?  But it can be done!  Paul is writing to the new church in Corinth to put away their old lifestyle steeped in all things wild and debauched, and to look at their bodies as physical temples that inhabit the presence of the Almighty God.  This is wise counsel even today.
