The Hurt Locker, 2009

Hurtlocker-everythingburns

A window into the emotional psyche of the US soldiers on the battlefield. Two-plus hours of tension-filled, nail-biting, too shell-shocked to even feel at times ride.

The NYT review captures it best: “The movie is a viscerally exciting, adrenaline-soaked tour de force of suspense and surprise, full of explosions and hectic scenes of combat, but it blows a hole in the condescending assumption that such effects are just empty spectacle or mindless noise.”
