June 1, Acts 4:13

“They couldn’t take their eyes off them—Peter and John standing there so confident, so sure of themselves! Their fascination deepened when they realized these two were laymen with no training in Scripture or formal education. They recognized them as companions of Jesus, but with the man right before them, seeing him standing there so upright—so healed!—what could they say against that?”

Acts 4:13 MSG – A verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.

That is exactly how it is with us too, sometimes, don’t you think?  We just look on in amazement at what God has done — at least, that is how it is for me.  When I think about the very many ways that I have at times found myself after a long struggle of facing crossroads and waiting for a sign; when I have found an elegant solution despite all my doubts; when I have received more than a sign, but a vehemently resounding thunder-clap of a sign affirming God’s love, care, and protection for me — it is at times like these, that I too, am left speechless like Peter and John — and what’s more, it is for far less a matter than what these two disciples had just witnessed.  I hope and trust that you too, gentle reader, will have your own experience of such speechless wonderment when you see what God has done for you.
