Traversing the Huron River in a Canoe on a Late Summer Day

Sublime!

Although we discovered fifteen minutes into our trip that the canoe was very slowly filling up with water, and 45 minutes later when we docked at a livery en route (not our originally intended final destination), the verdict was that one of the rivets in the floor was missing!

  1. You’re supposed to plug the drain before taking it on the water. 🙂 The river looks beautiful there. And your partner in the stern looks anything but. TFS!

    1. But nobody told us, and even when we got back they didn’t say anything about that, only that this happens rarely maybe once or twice a season! And to think we were the unfortunate ones to become a statistic.

Funny what you say about my partner, though. His name literally means beautiful in Hindi!

  2. I’m sorry, I meant he looks anything but “stern”! He looks quite happy. And beautiful! 🙂

    1. Haha, what a fine example of a comedy that could result from grammatical errors!

  3. I was joking about the drain plug as well. Larger boats have them but most canoes would not. I’m sorry you had the leaky canoe. Hopefully you’ll have a better craft next time you’re on the water.
