A Cookout On The Fourth: Best In Your Own Backyard

Another annual “show” that is held with all pomp and circumstance on the fourth of July. While the menu and company may vary, the venue remains the same: a deck in our backyard under a leafy canopy of tall maples.

When In The Course Of Human Events…

The Fourth of July / Celebrating liberty / For 235 years!

For a Wiki entry on the context, and details of the rest of the text (from the title of this post) of the document commonly known as the Declaration of Independence, click here.

Note on picture:  In all gratitude for the freedoms that I enjoy, I proudly fly the U.S. flag from my house for the entire month of July each year.

Champagne Mangoes From Mexico: Just Like Dussehris From India

It’s that time of year:  the time for mangoes.  And even in these great northern climes, we get this most delectable tropical fruit that comes to us all the way from down under, i.e., Mexico.

These are called Champagne mangoes, and they’re identical to the famous Dussehri variety of mangoes in northern India:  super sweet, fleshy, with a very thin skin, and a seed almost even thinner!

Life is good when you can find a comfort fruit like this even when you’re tens of thousands of miles away from the land of your birth!

An Anniversary Cake: Because Love's Like That!

Thanks to my sweet parents and children, a surprise cake that appeared at the stroke of midnight on July 2, 2011 to kick off the celebrations of an eighteen-year anniversary.  The red and white cake colors were reminiscent of the red roses and white jasmines on our wedding day.  Could life be any sweeter?  Another lovely annual show…
