- Richard III: A play by William Shakespeare. 1594. They say this is the second-longest play after Hamlet, but it sure felt like the longest one! Nonetheless, it was a brilliant performance by the Theatre Company at the Hilberry on WSU’s campus last evening.
- Some famous lines from the play were:
Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this sun of York.
Richard III, 1. 1
And therefore, since I cannot prove a lover,
To entertain these fair well-spoken days,
I am determined to prove a villain
And hate the idle pleasures of these days.
Richard III, 1. 1
Since every Jack became a gentleman
There’s many a gentle person made a Jack.
Richard III, 1. 3
And thus I clothe my naked villainy
With old odd ends stolen out of holy writ,
And seem a saint when most I play the devil.
Richard III. 1. 3
And of course, perhaps the most famous line of all: A horse! a horse! My kingdom for a horse!
