Texas Ranger Museum and Buckhorn Saloon & Museum

So, when you’re a tourist in San Antonio, you do it all and see it all.  Matters not if you’re truly a saloon afficianado, or if you’re a hunter, or even a fan of the famous cadre of the old Texas Rangers.  When you’re a tourist, every place is interesting, and every thing a curiosity!  That is how and why we found ourselves taking a tour of the Texas Ranger Museum and the Buckhorn Saloon & Museum.  See for yourselves what we saw in the slideshow below:

Japanese Sunken Gardens in San Antonio, Texas

The winters are mild in Texas, but sometimes they’re cold enough to dry out the grass and other plants.  But even so, the beauty of the Japanese Sunken Gardens in San Antonio, Texas remains intact.  The quaint pagodas, the fish ponds stocked with the brightest of gold fish, the high waterfall from one side of the mountain in the garden, the winding stone steps, and the carefully landscaped garden has a most tranquil feel to it.  See it through my eyes, or my camera lens, if you will, in the slideshow below:

San Antonio River Boat-Ride

So, I recently was a tourist in the charming city of San Antonio, Texas.  There’s a long river that runs right through the city which is one of the most charming things about the city itself because it runs below street-level but is flanked on either side by shops, restaurants and hotels.  We, of course, had to do the requisite boat-ride, and here’s some of the sights from the boat:

Wow! Look at that! Mexico City has long been on my list of places to go to– and this is one more reason to plan that trip! Click on the PBS link below the photo to see the article on the new museum to open later this month in Mexico City.

Remember The Alamo? (Check Here, If You Don't!)

I recently took a trip to the lovely city of San Antonio, Texas, and had the pleasure of visiting the Alamo, the famous Mission where the Americans fought the Spanish in the middle of the nineteenth century.  Check the Wiki entry for details on the historical significance of the battle and the place.  A slideshow of the memories of our time there is right below:

Austin City Limits, Here We Are!

Austin City Limits.  That is the name of a very popular music festival held in the city of Austin, Texas.  So popular has it become that PBS airs the concert series on Saturday nights, and if an artist performs here, it is common knowledge that they have ARRIVED. Info on this year’s festival is here.  So also would it be equally quite the thrilling event to attend this music festival.

And yet, I have not had the pleasure of doing so.  Rather, I have had the pleasure of seeing the city limits of the city itself, i.e., of Austin, Texas!  Last week, I was riding on the great American highways through the great state of Texas–from San Antonio to Dallas–and Austin happened to be on the way.

The five-hour ride was a terrific one, made even more sweet thanks to the company in the car.  Check out the slideshow below as we passed the city limits.

Incidentally, there’s yet another music festival coming up in Austin later this month, a story about which was featured on NPR just earlier this week– check it out here!
