Beautiful crocus in my front yard.  Blooms every year whether or not I notice.  But how can one not notice such fragile and fleeting beauty?  Here today, gone tomorrow, but sure to return again next year!

Big Yellow Birds are the best advertisers of your product or service!  This big yellow bird stopped to pose and smile for me even as I hurried to take the picture from the passenger side of the car earlier today.  And how can anyone beat those prices– $13 for a haircut?  Oh, the joys of living in a small town with big blue skies and big yellow birds!

Big shiny dog sculpture outside the Detroit Children’s Museum.  I was told yesterday’s photo was missing a dog by my good friend LP, meaning of course, that the image of the open sidewalk looked very conducive to a nice walk with a dog.  Well, I don’t have a dog (and wouldn’t take it to work, even if I had one!), but as you can see, I certainly encountered one on my lovely walk yesterday, albeit a metal one!

Art imitates life.  The New Center Building in the distance in Downtown Detroit just as the street banner bears a picture of the same.  At one time, the New Center was the world HQ for General Motors.  A beautiful sight on a beautiful day!

This Friday, the 22nd is the annual Earth Day– the one day set aside (who set it aside…?) to ponder over the future of our planet and to determine to keep it green and healthy and all that good stuff.  Well, last evening, I saw this mannequin in our local Macy’s highlighting just this fact.  She’s dressed in biodegradable paper, btw, and you can see the various logos about the date, etc.  I didn’t fully get it– if she’s dressed in paper how can that be good– wouldn’t she need a new dress everyday?!

Spring, you say?  Sure, it’s Spring.  But that doesn’t prevent the snow from coming!  Check out these spring flowers bursting in bloom alongside the snow-covered grass– which is also slowly turning green, as you can see.  Well, until Memorial Day (end of May), nothing surprises me– not even snow!

My firstborn tied these palm leaves into crosses this morning right after we got them in church.  Today happens to be Palm Sunday, so-called because it marked the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, just days before he is tried and crucified.  There’s a wiki entry on the significance of this event right here.  For the actual texts as found in the gospels of Matthew and Mark, click right here.
