February 21, Ephesians 4:26-27

“Go ahead and be angry. You do well to be angry—but don’t use your anger as fuel for revenge. And don’t stay angry. Don’t go to bed angry. Don’t give the Devil that kind of foothold in your life.”

Ephesians 4:26-27 MSG – A verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.

Anger is a natural emotion of the human condition.  And yet, Paul is exhorting the believer to be in control of this emotion.  Don’t beat yourself up over it, he says; in fact, go ahead and indulge in becoming angry if you must, but don’t “stay angry.”  Because doing so would be succumbing to destruction.  Instead, resolve to put away your anger, and replace it with calmness of mind.
