This has to be another of my favorite verses of all time. This is Jesus himself telling his disciples, nay, telling you and telling me that the power of prayer is real. Did you get that, gentle reader? This is the God of the universe who is keeping it as simple as it can ever get: no penance, no pilgrimage, no nothing is needed in order for you to get God’s attention. Instead, what works is prayer. In fact, Jesus says unequivocally, “when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.” What a confidence, what a blessed assurance!
