January 11, Psalm 111:1-3

Hallelujah!
I give thanks to God with everything I’ve got—
Wherever good people gather, and in the congregation.
God’s works are so great, worth
A lifetime of study—endless enjoyment!
Splendor and beauty mark his craft;
His generosity never gives out.”

Psalm 111:1-3 MSG – A verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.

Despite all the heartache, death, and destruction that we are surrounded by and make our home in, the believer refuses to give up on a God who knows everything and can do everything.  The Psalmist urges us to give thanks with everything we’ve got.  Because there is plenty to give thanks for, and it would in fact, take a lifetime to fully acknowledge.
