If I tell you I haven’t seen any of the previous movies in the Fast & Furious series, and you ask if I’d been living under a rock all this time, I’d probably answer yes– plain and simple. But I seemed to have crawled out from under the proverbial rock long enough to feast upon this last installment in this series. And so what did I think? Well, its always impressive to see a beautifully choreographed sequence of action frames, especially if they involve fast cars and fast trains. Which is what a lot of this movie revolves around. Plus, there’s the two giant-like men, both bald, who remind me more of Mr. Clean of the TV-commercials than anything else.
But these big men aren’t just big and mean; if anything, they’re good guys playing bad guys playing guys who are pretending to be good. Get it? Yes, well, that’s what I mean. One really doesn’t need to invest too much thought into all such intricacies of plot, etc. when you have all this fast action coming at you with people jumping and leaping, and driving machines that look like they couldn’t be pumped up any more on steroids. So, you sit back, and don’t bother about metaphysical queries about whatever happened to the laws of gravity and the dictates of narrative logic. You hear the cussing and the fussing, more driving and speeding away, and then the good/bad guys finally getting away with it. That’s it– and then you come away– at least if you’re like me– not regretting the fact that you missed out on the previous four in this movie-series!
