The sentence that usually follows “now you see me” is “…now you don’t”—which is sort of how I felt about the movie!
Plenty of action, great actors, and exotic locales are all on tap, and for the first twenty minutes of the movie, you’re in awe of the art and science of magic, until you realize that there’s one too many a twist and turn, and you’re trying to keep up and remain within that make-believe world but you’re actually having too hard of a time doing it.
That’s not to say that the “entertainment value” of the movie is any less. It is highly entertaining indeed, only be prepared to settle for somewhat implausible explanations on the mechanics of magical robberies and such.
Woody Harrelson is very much in his element, and Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine think they’re doing one of the Batman movies.
