I just finished two books. The Seven Storey Mountain by Merton (today’s the anniversary of his death) and Wayne Gretzky’s 99 Stories of the Game, a history of the NHL. Merton is brilliant of course, although his later books are much better, I’d say. Gretzky’s was surprisingly bland. It was very “rah-rah NHL” and not very insightful or even that personal.
