November 29, Colossians 2:7

“My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him. You’re deeply rooted in him. You’re well constructed upon him. You know your way around the faith. Now do what you’ve been taught. School’s out; quit studying the subject and start living it! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving.”

Colossians 2:7 MSGA verse of the day from the Bible presented in Eugene Peterson’s contemporary version called The Message. Accompanied by a personal reflection below.

There comes a time when it is necessary to stop studying the subject and put it into practice.  That’s what Paul is telling his readers to do.  Once you have become deeply rooted in the love of Christ, start living out that love in your daily life!  Petersen’s paraphrasing is so interesting:  he doesn’t say “live for him,” he says, “live him”.
