A quick biochemical fix is all you need for writer’s block. That is the underlying theme of this pseudo-scifi thriller that makes you wonder if that mighty organ called the brain is truly underutilized without the lack of stimulants such as the NZT drug that this all-but failed writer of a man gets his hands on before he realizes that his potential to produce and create is exponentially increased with one little pill every day.
And what does one do with this expanded mental capacity? The usual shallow crap, i.e., make more money and sleep with more women. There are no deeply philosophical angles to the story, but what the movie might lack in structural storyline and depth, it makes up for with great energy and even humor. After all, you can’t beat the thrill of mastering a foreign language so you can order a gourmet meal in a restaurant and impress your woman!
